Music at St Michael's Church

The Senior Choir

The Senior Choir numbers about twenty members, with a balance of Altos, Basses, Sopranos and Tenors.

They sing at both the morning and evening Sunday sung services, and other special events in the church and town. A full Choral Evensong service is sung once a quarter (as sung in cathedrals). The music tackled is extensive and expanding, including some ambitious 8 part works. Normally, an anthem is sung at the evening service and a communion motet at the morning service.

Occasionally, in addition to the Friday practice, extra work is done for special services or items.

Recruitment

Interested and capable adults are always welcome; a straightforward voice test may be required.
