Music at St Michael's Church

Organist & Director of Music

Paul Nash

Paul Nash has been involved with church music for many years, either as organist, composer or choral director. As well as liturgical music, he also has a passionate interest in musical theatre, and regularly works as a composer, musical director and accompanist. He holds a PhD in musicology from the University of Bristol, and currently teaches music at TASIS (an international school in Thorpe).

The Church Choir

The choir's repertoire is extensive and expanding, with works of all types and periods, including introits, anthems, music for Choral Evensong, and the weekly round of psalms and canticles to Anglican chant, and hymns.

The objects of the choir are to make music to the glory of God, to lead the congregation in the sung and said parts of the services and to work towards the highest standards.

Choir Services

There are two sung Sunday services: The Parish Communion at 10.00 a.m. and Evensong at 6.30 p.m. On Fridays the Junior Choristers practice starts at 6:30 p.m., with the Senior Choir joining them for practice at 7:30 p.m. [Choir timetable can be viewed here]

In addition there are weddings on Saturdays and other services as arranged, including Civic services. Other exciting events also take place including fund raising for the church and for the choir and other events and extras which go with St. Michael's being the Town centre Church.
