Joining us at our service last Sunday, the Bishop of Basingstoke led our worship and preached a sermon.
Bishop David told of his experiences of Mark's Gospel changing lives in Kenya. Through Jesus we learn our identity as those who are loved by God and invited into God's Kingdom, which offers us a different way of seeing his story and ours. It is in Jesus' story we discover that our moments of utmost vulnerability and failure are never the end of the story. He invites us to join in his story, which we celebrate in the Eucharist here Sunday by Sunday with 'exquisite beauty'.
The Bishop's visit took place a year and a day after his installation to the position and he noted that All Saints, Basingstoke was the 101st church in his area of responsibility that he had had the opportubnity to visit in this first year.
As well as celebrating the Eucharist with us, Bishop David and his wife, Helen, joined members of the church for a bring-and-share lunch in the Church Hall.
