Centenary of All Saints
30th July to 3rd October 2017
On September 27th 2017, All Saints Church celebrates the hundredth anniversary of its dedication. A hundred years ago, on that day, the congregation walked from the iron church where they had worshipped for fifteen years and into the newly built church, where the Bishop of Winchester dedicated it to the glory of God. This September All Saints is celebrating this anniversary with several events.
On Saturday 16th September, at 3.30pm, Debbie Reavell, one of Basingstoke's local historians, will give a talk about Basingstoke at the time of the building of All Saints, and in particular the life of the churches at that time.
The church will be open during the day for much of the following two weeks. On Saturday 23rd September, it will be open from 10.00am to 4.00pm, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to a festival of "Faith and Flowers". At the same time, the ringers will be attempting a full peal (lasting 6 hours).
On Sunday 24th September, at 3.00pm, the Bishop of Basingtoke will lead a Eucharist of Thanksgiving for the past century of worship and service at All Saints.
