Ash Wednesday Services

14th February 2018

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. This is a season of preparation and reflection taking us on a journey with Jesus to the events of Holy Week and Easter.    On Ash Wednesday, we particularly focus on those things for which we are sorry and the many promises we make which turn to dust and ashes in our forgetfulness and human frailty.

We remember, too, the great love and mercy of God who remains faithful, whatever our failings. At the Ash Wednesday service, each person is marked with the sign of the cross in ash - a sign of God's love, our sorrow, and our desire to follow Jesus in his journey to the cross.

Ash Wednesday this year is on 14th February. The details of the services are:

St Michael’s:

7.30pm:         Holy Communion (Common Worship) with Hymns and Ashing

Christ the King:

12 noon:        Holy Communion

2.30pm:         Holy Communion at Newman Court

7pm:              Holy Communion
