Celebrating 50 Years

Connie's Story

I came to Basingstoke in 1973 with my husband, Jack, we lived in Buckskin and befriended our neighbours who were members of St. Peter’s. When we were looking for a local church they asked if we would like to go with them. We were soon made welcome and felt at home here, there was a regular congregation of around 50-60 people and the vicar was assisted by some nuns who were attached to the team ministry. We celebrated our foster daughter’s wedding in 2001, and sadly Jack’s funeral in 2008.

I used to belong to a senior citizen’s club, along with my late husband. We would also run the TraidCraft stalls, helped at Christmas and Summer Fayres, jumble sales, cleaning the church and hall, Jack also did numerous repair jobs. I have also been churchwarden and treasurer.

I would like the congregation to grow again and be a place where people grow in faith, and love and care for each other.
