10th Basingstoke Rainbows

Rainbow Guide badge

Rainbows run on a Monday and are led by Guider in Charge, Carol Keeler (Robin), and Assistant Guiders Kat Reeks (Dolphin) and Emma James (Bumble Bee).

The girls take part in a range of activities including craft, and singing. Rainbows can also earn badges as part of a group.

Once a Rainbow has made her promise, she can wear the Rainbow uniform which consists of a red tracksuit and grey/blue polo shirt.

10th Basingstoke Brownies

Brownies Guide badge

Brownies run on a Monday and are led by Guider in Charge Christine Daly (Fluffy Owl).

The girls take part in a range of activities including craft, drama and cooking. Brownies can also earn badges either individually or as part of the group. Brownie uniform is a mix of yellow and brown and can be worn when a brownie has made her promise.

24th Basingstoke Brownies

Brownies Guide badge

Brownies run on a Friday and are led by Guider in charge Viv Martin (Barn Owl) and Assistant Guider Sue Walker (Little Owl).

The girls take part in a range of activities such as cooking, gardening, community work, craft, and singing. Every term the girls get the chance to take part in either a badge weekend (staying overnight in a local hall) or a Brownie Holiday (2-3 nights away in a local hall).

Brownie uniform is a mix of brown and yellow trouser/top and can be worn when a girl makes her Promise (usually towards the end of her first term).

Guides badge

Guides run on a Monday and are led by Guider in charge, Jeanette Chappell (Canary) and Assistant Guiders Lynne Painter (Tawny Owl) and Liz Reeks (Heron).

Guides enjoy a range of activities including cooking and craft.

Guides have the chance to earn a range of badges, either individually or as a group.

Guide uniform consists of a blue top and jumper.

Senior Section (SHEEP Rangers)

(including Rangers, Young Leaders and Young Guiders

SHEEP Rangers meet every Wednesday and are run by Guider in Charge Viv Martin and Assistant Guider Sue Walker.

Rangers plan their own activities based around the Senior Section programme, Look Wider. Activities have included themed movie evenings, campfires, chip hikes and craft. Rangers also have the chance to take part in residential activities including environment work at the UK Girl Guiding centre, Foxlease.

Young Leaders are girls aged between 14 – 18 who have chosen to work within Rainbow, Brownie or Guide Units. Some are working towards Leadership schemes. This helps gain experience for childcare studies, and cover community service for Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

Senior Section uniform consists of turquoise and grey tops.

Young Guiders are Guiders who work in any unit and are aged under 26. They are still entitled to wear Senior Section uniform and take part in activities.

All Senior Section members can join in County and Region activities for this section. They may also be selected to travel abroad representing either County or Region on trips, camps and holidays. They also can take part in trainings such as First Aid, programme planning, disabilities, walking qualifications, camp permits and Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme.
