Coming to All Saints for the first time

We hope that you will always feel welcome at All Saints but walking into a church for the first time can be daunting.

Here are some handy hints:
  • There will probably be other newcomers in church, we are used to meeting new people
  • You should be met at the door, we will give you the books or leaflets you will need, if you have any queries or questions the people giving out the books are there to help.
  • You can sit wherever you like, there are not any reserved seats in the main part of the church.
  • We usually stand to sing, and sit or kneel to pray, but don't worry if you get it wrong, several people sit for the whole service, or stand up more than the rest of us. It really is more about how you feel comfortable; there is no "right or wrong" way.
  • The service will probably involve "Communion"; receiving the bread and wine. We go up to the altar rail, kneel and hold out our hands to receive, just watch someone. If you are a member of the Christian Church then you are welcome to receive communion, but if that is not right for you then please still come up to the rail and kneel, but bring an order of service with you and we will know to just give you a blessing.
  • The 10 o'clock service lasts until about 11.15am, there is tea, coffee or squash afterwards.
  • It is very good to laugh at the jokes in the sermon.
