Starting in the Lady Chapel, and going around the church to near the organ, there are 14 numbered scenes showing the journey that Jesus took after his trial to his death on the cross. These are called the “Stations of the Cross.” Some are based on the story in the Bible, some are legendary. Nowadays we use the Stations to remember what happened to Jesus and to help us to understand the things that happen to us. For instance on some of the pictures Jesus is shown letting people help him to carry the cross, this might remind us that we need to be ready to allow others to share our burdens. The Stations tell a powerful story.
